I got these hearing aids (Costco) four weeks ago and have gone back at least twice a week for adjustment. Previously I used ITE (in-the-ear) hearing aid, and had gone to the same Private Provider since the 80s.
Because of high replacement costs, I decided to try Costco. Needless to say I am not the least bit pleased. My hearing is significantly worse while using these, than my old ones. Tinny sound, loud and inaudible. I am constantly asking people to repeat.
Yesterday I was in a noisy restaurant and the program would not switch from one to the next and I will have to have this addressed next week.
I have been told that Costco will only try "one brand" of hearing aid, and if that does not work, then too bad. This is never the case with a Private Provider, it is not "one size fits all".
On a positive note, I wish I could have success with these, since the old hearing aids caused a lot of ear infections, and the new ones are very comfortable.
I do not like the fact that you have to sit in a noisy warehouse, in full view of Costco customers while you wait to be seen. Total lack of privacy. And, once in the small booth where the technician treats you, it is very hot and uncomfortable.
Last week the previous patient was using an oxygen tank, and the booth smelled so bad, they should have a better ventilation system. I am sure Costco could create a small private enclosed area for patient privacy.
